Yes ‘Singham’ has nothing new to offer other than being a heavy baggage of standard Bollywood formulaic action fare that depicts the battle between the hero and villain.
From the start to finish, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham’ can be best described as a sprawling action drama. Ajay Devgn is uncannily compelling in the title character. He plays the upright principled cop Bajirao Singham, with a heart of lion and hammer like biceps ready to thrash villains.
Rohit Shetty’s Singham has all the familiar props seen in commercial action potboiler. The hero Ajay Devgn emerges and presents himself as a larger-than-life character that is patterned to be almost similar to Salman’s ‘Wanted’ and ‘Dabangg and also reminds one of action ny Amitabh in the 70s.
Shetty has paid a lot of heed to the action than the story and he does show that Ajay’s character is head and shoulders above every other character. Singham is a film about a one man machine fighting against evil and the corrupt aspiring politician Jaykant Shikre.
‘Singham’ which is a remake of Hari’s 2010 Tamil potpourri ‘Singam’ is a action movie with elements of romance, but the romantic scenes between Ajay and Kaajal Aggarwal are fairly dull and boring.
The first scenes in ‘Singham’, shows the entry of the six packed Bajirao Singham coming out from the holy water in a red dhoti, and people donning red costumes and praying for his health and happiness, which transports you to the ethnic flavored films of the 80s and 90s era.
Even though few of the scenes remind you of an old fashioned commercial film, 'Singham' doesn’t suffer any major setbacks, as it gives a broad share of laughs for some of the funny dialogues, which includes "Tu corruption sey paiday hua gandi nalee ka keeda hai.”
The sole credit of the film remains the unique combination of good performances by the characters and the succession of crisp dialogues.
Ajay gives a convincing and fine performance, while Prakash Raj does a neat job with his villain act. Meanwhile Kaajal doesn’t carve a niche in her role and the fine actress Sonali Kulkari is rather wasted in her role.
Story-line
The film’s story revolves around the honest and virtuous cop Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan) who is from the small village of Shivgad on the Maharashtra-Goa border.
The adorable son of the village, Singham, resolves all disputes among villagers and settles their problems even by lending money when they are need.
And then comes an extortionist and politically ambitious Jaykant Shikre (Prakash Raj) from Goa, who does all kinds of illegal activities and goes scot free because of his connections.
Shirke, who has no conscience, is required to come to the police station everyday to show his presence after receiving bail in a case. But he gets into a war of words with Singham, as the police officer doesn’t allow anyone to mark his attendance on his behalf.
Meantime, through his connections, Shirke deliberately gets Singham transferred to his home land Goa. Incidentally from here begins the open challenge between Singham and Shirke.
However later Singham plans to quit his job after facing several hurdles but stays rooted after his girlfriend backs him.
Bottom line
‘Singham’s format doesn’t run out of steam nor makes you yawn and stretch. This racy film has a funny climax.
Watch Ajay’s ‘Singam’ if you are eager to watch a complete action packed masala entertainer.

Once inside, Ana and a group of online deviants quickly realize that they've fallen into a trap. They've just stepped into one man's personal version of Hell, a place where the guilty go to suffer for their sins by doing battle with a bloodthirsty mutant who knows no mercy.
